Dr. Shawn Smith is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Denver, Colorado. He is also the author of ironshrink.com. Shawn's fascination with violence prevention began as a child, growing up in the family-owned bar. He went on to earn degrees in Communication and Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. Shawn has had years of first-hand experience with violence prevention. He spent five years patrolling the streets with the Guardian Angels Safety Patrol, serving as a trainer and senior patrol leader for this nationally renowned organization. His background also includes work in a group home for troubled and violent teens, as well as a drug and alcohol detoxification facility. Shawn has also studied the techniques and philosophies of the martial arts for more than 20 years, teaching him the value of preventing violent conflict.
